The other day, I came home from my morning run, and there was a squirrel on my front steps eating my pumpkin. He was really working to dig and dig and eat and eat. He looked at me with a guilty look on his face, I laughed, and he kept eating. Something about that interaction tells me that he knows it’s going to be a tough winter.
One of my friends (and my former 6th grade teacher) shared with me an observation this past summer: we can go to the supermarket all winter… but animals can’t.
So, a small act of kindness for the squirrels around my house. Eat up, squirrels!
